Prof. Eran Levin is Curator of Terrestrial Vertebrates at the Steinhardt Museum and Associate Professor at the School of Zoology, Tel Aviv University (TAU). He completed his PhD in zoology, supervised by Prof. Noga Kronfeld-Schor and Prof. Yoram Yom-Tov, at TAU, and postdoctoral studies at the Department of Entomology at University of Arizona, Tucson, in 2013–2016. His main interests are physiology, nutrition, zoology, natural history and art.

His main discoveries are related to the adaptations of animals to extreme climatic or nutritional conditions. These include the discovery of hibernation in high ambient temperatures in mouse-tailed bat and the use of carbohydrates as a source for antioxidant potential in nectarivorous animals. His current research focuses on the nutrition and physiology of hornets, bats, birds, reptiles, bees, shrews and butterflies.

He is the recipient of the Israel Science Foundation and United States–Israel Binational Agricultural research and development grants.
