Dr. Roi Dor is Associate Curator of Terrestrial Vertebrates at the Steinhardt Museum and senior lecturer at the Department of Natural and Life Sciences, The Open University of Israel. He completed his PhD in zoology, supervised by Prof. Arnon Lotem at TAU, and postdoctoral studies at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology at Cornell University, Ithaca, in 2008–2011, and at the University of Colorado Boulder in 2011-2012. His main interests are ecology, evolution and behavior of birds.

His research combines observations and experiments in the field with molecular lab work. The subjects of his studies include parent-offspring communication, sexual selection, molecular phylogenetics, and adaptation to local environments. In recent years, he have been studying invasive species, trying to understand the traits that makes them successful invaders.
