The Museum Exhibitions

International Museum Day 2023 will take place this year on Tuesday, May 9. This initiative of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) is commemorated worldwide each year; in Israel, International Museum Day is usually commemorated on the Lag BaOmer holiday, at the initiative of the Association of Museums and ICOM Israel.

This year, the theme of International Museum Day is “museums, sustainability and well-being”. The Steinhardt Museum offers a different view of nature. Through displays of the national natural history collections, we strive to inspire the pursuit of knowledge in order to understand and strengthen our connection to and place in nature—for future generations. The Museum presents scientific knowledge (from the research conducted on-site) and unique perspectives through a multisensory, enjoyable hands-on experience that creates an unparalleled closeness and interaction with nature that cannot be experienced anywhere else.

The Museum exhibitions present thousands of items chosen from a scientific collection of five and a half million items, in rare displays and exhibits that tell the story of the world of nature around us.

We invite the public to enjoy free entry on this day to all the Museum’s exhibitions, including the temporary exhibition, Global Warning: The Climate, the Crisis and Us.

Please note! In order to enable as many visitors as possible to enjoy this day—up to 4 tickets per booking.
