Dr. Achik Dorchin

Collection manager of bees, the Steinhardt Museum

Dr. Achik Dorchin is the collection manager of bees at the Steinhardt Museum. He received his PhD from the University of Haifa in 2013. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the Department of Entomology, Cornell University and the USDA ARS lab of pollinating insects, Utah State University. His main interests are taxonomy and systematics of bees, evolutionary ecology, pollination ecology, and nature conservation. His publications include studies on both the species and community levels, and the application of molecular and morphology-based tools. He specializes in several groups of long-tongued bees in the families Apidae and Megachilidae, to which he contributed group-revisions and descriptions of new species and genera.
