Dr. Amos Belmaker

Collection manager of birds, the Steinhardt Museum

Dr. Amos Belmaker is the collection manager of birds at the Steinhardt Museum. He completed his Masters at Tel-Aviv University under Prof. Arnon Lotem, working on social foraging in house sparrows. After two short stretches as a field assistant in Argentina and California he then went on to do his PhD at Cornell University. He was supervised by Prof. David Winkler and worked on telomere length and life history of tree swallows. He joined the Museum in 2016 and has been here ever since.

His main interests are life history and evolution of birds but you can get him talking just about anything because in the end everything is connected. He also always had a soft spot for teaching and education, preferably in non-formal settings.
