Data Scientist and Curator of rodents, the Steinhardt Museum

Dr. Shay Rotics is a data scientist and a curator of rodents at the Steinhardt Museum, and a Senior Lecturer at the School of Zoology, Faculty of Life Sciences, Tel Aviv University.

He completed his Ph.D. in Ecology from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he studied white stork migration under the supervision of Prof. Ran Nathan. He later conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Cambridge, UK, under the supervision of Prof. Tim Clutton-Brock, investigating cooperative behavior in meerkats and mole-rats. His research focuses on behavioral ecology of terrestrial vertebrates, exploring how animals adapt their behavior to physical, social, and anthropogenic factors in the wild. He is also involved in integrating machine learning tools and citizen science practices into wildlife research.
