Curator of Red Sea fishes, the Steinhardt Museum

Prof. Roi Holzman is a curator of Red Sea fishes at the Steinhardt Museum, an Associate Professor at the School of Zoology, Tel Aviv University, and a resident scientist at the inter-university institute for Marine sciences in Eilat. He completed his PhD in Ecology, supervised by Prof. Amatzia Genin (Hebrew University of Jerusalem), and postdoctoral studies at the University of California in Davis, with Prof. Peter Wainwright in 2006–2010. His main interests lay at the interface of biology and hydrodynamics, namely the understanding of the ways organisms manipulate the fluid around them to respire, feed and move. He is further interested in the evolution of complex functional systems.
His current research focuses on feeding performance of fishes in early life stages, the evolution of reef fishes and herbivory by coral reef fishes.
