Prof. Shai Meiri is a Curator of Terrestrial Vertebrates at the Steinhardt Museum and Professor at the School of Zoology, Tel Aviv University (TAU). He completed his PhD in zoology, supervised by Prof. Tamar Dayan (TAU) and Prof. Daniel Simberloff (University of Tennessee at Knoxville), and postdoctoral studies at Imperial College, London, Centre for Population Biology, 2005–2009. His main interests are evolution, biogeography, zoology, history, and Formula One racing.

His current research focuses on the evolution and biogeography of reptiles, especially lizards.
