Curator of Lepidoptera (moths and butterflies), the Steinhardt Museum

Dr. Vasiliy Kravchenko is a curator of Lepidoptera (moths and butterflies) at the Steinhardt Museum. He received his PhD in 1984 from the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow, which was devoted to Lepidoptera cotton pests in Azerbaijan. In 1991 he emigrated to Israel and worked for several years mainly on cotton pests in Israel under the supervision of Prof. Dan Gerling. In 2003 he joined the Steinhardt Museum of Natural History as a curator of the Lepidoptera collection. His scientific interests include ecology, biogeography, seasonal adaptations and pest control of Lepidoptera. Vasiliy has published over 140 articles in peer-reviewed journals, presented nearly 50 papers at international and national scientific conferences and wrote four books on the Lepidoptera of Israel.
