The collections & research division of the Steinhardt Museum of Natural History includes several special projects, in addition to the collections and associated management and research staff.
These projects aim to promote scientific research, to provide crucial knowledge to decision-makers, and to contribute to training the next generation of taxonomists and ancient DNA researchers. These projects work with scientists and professionals from different organizations and disciplines, supporting agriculture, biodiversity conservation, environmental protection and flight safety. Moreover, they contribute to scientific education in taxonomy and to mainstreaming advanced genetic tools into archaeological research.
